Eligibility criteria for a Moabi small grant
Please consider the following before contacting us
The subject
o The research field should be systematics of tropical African plants.
o The research project should take place in collaboration with the Biosystematics Group of Wageningen University.
The grant
o Support is given to individuals.
o Moabi provides small grants only. Grants will normally not exceed €1500.
o Grants will only cover part of the costs. Candidates should find additional funds from other sources or clearly demonstrate a fair personal contribution.
The applicant
o Should preferably be at the beginning of his or her career, wishing to increase his/her knowledge of African plant taxonomy.
o Should be able to indicate how the acquired knowledge will assist him/her to continue a career in African botany.
o Should preferably be a young African scientist embedded in a botanical environment.
Other non-binding criteria
o The applicant should indicate how the results of the proposed research will be published. Projects leading to publications co-authored by staff of the Biosystematics Group of Wageningen University will receive a preference.
o Research that may lead to a more lasting relationship between the Biosystematics Group and the institute or organisation from which the candidate is originating, will receive a preference.
o If the research includes collecting and/or assistance with the identification of specimens, then we encourage to hand over a duplicate set for inclusion in the Herbarium Vadense collection of Wageningen University.
